The next book in The Vampire Diaries trilogy, (The Return: Midnight) has been released but according to Gather.com, not without some issues…
“March 15, 2011 – The last book in new The Vampire Diaries trilogy, The Return: Midnight, has finally been released.
The book, written by L.J. Smith, is the last one in the entire series and the last one that will be written by the author.
The popular vampire book series was first written back in the 1990’s and then later L.J. wrote a new sequel trilogy to the original series called The Return.
In her website, L.J. said that this book would be the last one she would write on The Vampire Diaries, but according to some reviewers, the story ends with a cliffhanger.
Apparently, L.J. had a falling out with Harper Teen Publishers and she was fired, although they seem to own the rights to the books. So, this makes it hard for L.J. to continue on the series since it will stay with the publishers.
“Although I wanted and still want more than anything to be able to continue The Vampire Diaries series myself, there’s no point in not trying the new books.” L.J. wrote in her blog. “Besides which, Midnight, which is all mine, is coming out in March, and I believe there may be some of my writing in Phantom.”
